THE GOLDEN RULE IN COMPARISON TO HEBREW AND GREEK PHILOSOPHERS.

Matthew 7:12 "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." This is the rule of justice to all Christians. Jesus Christ taught us how to believe, what to do, and how to behave towards God. FIRST, The true worship of God is our business, and must be contented, be intent upon it. SECOND, We must give account of our holiness by doing what is right to our neighbours. What is this summarizing of our duty? Do unto your neighbour what you would that your neighbour should do to you. That is the whole thing. We are told this is not peculiar to the world, but it is from Christ, and only pagans can be outlawed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But the Golden rule can be compared to ancient philosophers, before the first coming of Jesus Christ: (1.) The famous Jewish rabbi Hilliel said: "Do not do to thy neighbour what is hateful to thyself." (2.) Socrates, the Greek philosopher said: "What stirs your anger when done to you by others, that do not to others." (3.) Aristotle, the Greek philosopher said: "We should bear ourselves toward others as we would desire they should bear themselves toward us." (4.) Confucius, the Chinese philosopher said: "What you do not want done to yourself, do not to others." These sayings portrayed that even though these people were pagans, they had a little trace of humanity in them. But what about the current philosophers? They call cruel selfish greedy person with bitterness as economist, a pathological and filthy liar plus opportunist as politician, and a spiritually rotten, abominable person as a religious leader. God have mercy on us! There is a radical difference, these are negative and passive. What Christ command is positive and active. Stand still, and do not do what you do not want anyone to do to you. Go and do what you would that he should do to you. It is not merely that you are to refrain from harming him; you're to do him good. Give to him, without taking the advantage of his distressed situation in robbing him. Don't be opportunist. Have care. Don't invent diseases to kill him. Love him. Get out of selfish self-respect, self-power/dominion, and bitterness that cankered your hearts. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the remedy for humanity.
